A few facts about myself
Origins
Growing up in Karl-Marx-Stadt in the 70s and 80s, I gained my first computer experience at the former robotron combine where my father worked and, together with him, ran a computer club for schoolchildren. The computer was already present in school lessons for the higher classes. Later, we had a KC 85/3 (home computer in the GDR) at home, on which we created our first games, graphics experiments and musical experiments. Programming was done in Basic, Pascal and C, as was common at the time.
Consolidation
At the beginning of the 90s I started studying electrical engineering (information technology/circuit design) at the TU Chemnitz and came into contact with the emerging World Wide Web, whose possibilities and utopias of the time excited me. The first websites were created and the desire to gain a professional foothold in this field. At the same time, I was fascinated by the possibilities of digital signal processing, especially in the creation and processing of music, as well as the potential of digital image processing. In co-operation with the Dermatological Clinic Chemnitz-Rabenstein I developed software (in C++) for the early detection of malignant melanomas (skin cancer).
Expertise
After graduating, I moved to Leipzig and worked as a research assistant at the HTWK Leipzig, supervising a laboratory and giving tutorials in the creation of websites and multimedia software. At the same time, I started working freelance for agencies and became completely self-employed in 1999. Since then, I have been advising and supporting companies, organisations, agencies and individuals in the implementation of small, medium and large software projects.
What else?
I live in Leipzig with my children, enjoy being outdoors and when I have time I make music, build furniture and do contemporary dance. I speak German (mother tongue), English (fluent), some French and Russian (basics).
